This is a gorgeous image, and reminds me that we need to look at the photographs as well as looking directly at the sky.
That’s because the sun was so bright that I did not see the rainbow of light emanating from the top of the sun, nor could I see the waves of energy in the clouds under the sun. I just knew, seeing the patterning of the cloud to the right of the sun, that there was something special going on.
I love this full photo, below, because it reveals the waves of light clearly emanating through our sky. The purple bolt of color below the sun is unusual in my photos, and is only present when the solar radiation is of a particular quality. What the measurement of that is I do not know, as I checked the geomagnetic data, the solar activity, and other measures and could not find any data that would say it was one effect or another. The mystery continues…
