20th Century Fox Home Entertainment commissioned a survey of Americans’ belief in UFOs.
Description:
- Results were published in 2017.
- The survey was part of the Phoenix Forgotten 2017 movie marketing campaign.
- 1756 Americans were surveyed.
- The survey was conducted by Toluna.
Key points:
- 47% of Americans believe in aliens.
- 39% believe aliens have visited Earth before.
- 17% have seen a UFO.
- 27% know someone who has seen a UFO.
- 45% of people have heard of the Phoenix Lights. (The Phoenix Lights event were sightings of UFOs over two American states and one Mexican state in 1997.)
- 67% said the Phoenix Lights could have been caused by aliens.
- Regarding whether aliens are seen as friendly or not: 25% said they would be friendly, 9% said they would be hostile, and 66% were not sure.
