Fire Sun, Solaris Modalis

Multiple fires and unusual weather patterns caused soot and other particulate matter from fires in Oregon and the Central Valley of California to blow towards San Francisco bay.  In a highly unusual weather pattern, the wind blew from east to west – from inland towards the ocean – instead of the usual west to east pattern (from the ocean over the land).  These photos were taken on Thursday, August 31, 2017.
